I know when you first start training with kettlebells, it can be frustrating trying to learn proper training techniques and being able to transfer those over to your workouts. So here are three tips to help you get started the right way with your kettlebell training:
Tip #1: Learn And Master The Five Basic Exercises
The five basic kettlebell exercises are the Swing, the Get Up, the Squat, the Clean and Press, and the Snatch. If you can focus on mastering your technique with these basic moves, your workouts, circuits, and everything you do kettlebell-related becomes a heck of a lot easier.
Tip #2: Practice the Fundamentals on a Regular Basis
Learning to train with kettlebells is a lot like learning any other new sport skill, like paying golf or tennis. If you take 10 or 15 minutes a day to learn and practice the fundamentals, you’ll see your progress skyrocket.
Tip #3: Get Proper Instruction
There’s a lot of kettlebell training information out there – some is great, some is crap, and a lot of it is somewhere in between. Make sure that you’re getting your advice from a reputable source. The best possible option is to get in-person instruction; if this is impossible, learning from instructional video and manuals can work as well.
Learning and mastering the five basic kettlebell exercises, practicing the fundamentals on a regular basis, and getting proper instruction are all things that will help you master the basics of kettlebell training. Most importantly, make sure that the advice you’re getting is coming from a reputable source – there’s a lot of questionable information floating around out there. Good luck to you!
