It is hard to stay motivated. It is a struggle. I started becoming passionate about fitness around five years ago. For me going to the gym and getting in a good workout is not only fun and exciting, but is also a stress reliever. When I am feeling overwhelmed, the place I will run to is the gym.
Working out has been exciting and has never really been difficult to keep up with for me. It is something I enjoy. I started out working out a couple of days a week. Slowly I started learning the trade and soon enough, my nutrition was modified and I was working out more and more. Motivation was never a problem for me.
Yet, for many people it is challenging to maintain their workout and fitness schedules and goals. Many people set goals in the beginning of the year and then as the year goes on, just forget about them.
It is difficult to get to the gym for some people and working out is very stressful on the body especially if you have never worked out before. Also, for those who are unfit and just starting out, it is a very big lifestyle change. It means actually taking action, being active and turning off the television.
Naturally people have trouble keeping up with something they have started, especially if they do not immediately see results. One of the most important things I have learned in life is that everything worthwhile takes time. Results are often not immediate and take hard work, but are always worth waiting for. This concept applies to all areas of life, equally so in the fitness arena.
Building muscle and losing weight is a process. Learning about fitness and nutrition is part of that process. But the most important thing is to be motivated and want badly to achieve something. Without that motivation, nothing will come to fruition.
The key is just getting started and not giving up. If you give up early, then you will find yourself unhappy and dissatisfied. Just remember that if you keep it up then in time you WILL see the results you are looking for, at least to some extent. So when you set a goal, start, and continue and remember that nothing comes quick and easy, everything takes time and hard work, but that, in the end, is what makes the achievement feel so great.
