Diets are a tricky feat to accomplish. With all the distraction and not to mention temptation, how can you stick to a badly needed diet? You’ve probably done it a hundred times – tried a new diet, restarted an old one… slipped back to your old habits. Tried yet another new diet, reverted back to something you’ve tried before…. slipped back to your old habits. Found a new diet to try, decided the old one works better…. and then yes, you slipped back to your old habits. So much for diet motivation! What is going on? Why do you keep on failing these diets?! Maybe they were actually made to fail, huh?
Of course not. Diets are designed to help you eat healthy and in effect become healthy. You just have to learn to STICK to it, plain and simple. The most important part of your journey to lose weight is consciously deciding to ACTUALLY commit. This is it! Today is the day!
Naturally it will be hard work. It’s like turning day into night. The hardest part is over though and you have already decided to commit. To aid in your journey, here are a few diet motivation tips to help you finish what you have started.
No to Food Pushers.
Sometimes, although you try your very best to stick to a meal plan, family and friends unconsciously (okay most of the time consciously) push you to eat what you shouldn’t. A piece of cake your Mom baked, that juicy quarter pounder your friend ordered, or even that small yet sinful chocolate bar your niece gave you for Valentine’s day. What’s funny and irritating at the same time is that they want you to eat/taste it in front of them. Here’s the deal… just say NO… politely. Be honest, and tell them you want to lose weight and be healthy. Whatever they say after that (ex. “But I baked this especially for you.” “This is the best burger ever, so super delicious!” “Please Aunty?”) – smile and still say NO. Offer to take some home if they keep pushing but come on, don’t eat it at home! Remember, this is it! Today is the day!
Stock up on Healthy Food and Snacks.
When grocery shopping, buy only what is healthy. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables, 100% wheat bread, healthy drinks, lean meats, fish, etc. Stock up on the good stuff and don’t buy “comfort food for rainy days” because you know how much it rains when you’re hungry! Don’t tempt yourself. If you want this diet to work, you have to help yourself.
Go Healthy Recipes.
Oh there are numerous healthy and delicious recipes online. Stock up on them! These will be your “comfort food on rainy days”. Make your own delicious meals when you feel like eating badly. Delicious doesn’t always mean unhealthy. If you think about it, food is more delicious knowing that you are eating healthy.
A little diet motivation gets you going a long way. Motivate yourself with these helpful tips, let today be THE day!
