Using Strength Bands in Crossfit Workouts

Strength bands are ideal items to incorporate in your Crossfit workout as they will enable you to perform a wide range of beneficial exercises. They are generally available in the form of elastic tubes with padded handles and ankle straps. They should also have an engraving of the weight or tension that the particular band is in while in use. This will enable you to time your workout depending on the type of resistance offered by the strength bands. You may use several bands at the same time, thus enabling you to create various levels of resistance.

These bands are simple to use and are designed to build, tone and tighten your body during your Crossfit workout. It is easy to create your own custom workout by simply attaching and detaching the bands on or off the handles or ankle straps. Because they are gravity bound, the strength bands offer a unique workout which is different from what you would achieve with fitness machines and free weights.

Through the resistance offered by the rubber tubing, you are able to generate tension with these bands. What this means is that the more you pull, the higher the levels of resistance created. What’s more, all the created tension is placed at the top of the repeated sequence as opposed to weight training whereby most of the work is finished by the time you reach the end of the repeated sequence.

A basic set of bands should be enough for the average Crossfit trainee. However, if you feel that you are really strong and therefore require more resistance, you may use more bands or opt for heavier individual bands. When used in Crossfit workouts, strength bands are easy on the joints, help build muscle strength in the legs and enable you to get in shape and stay in shape.
