Why I Switched to Bodyweight Exercises and Never Looked Back

I’ve been a gym rat all of my life, but recently I switched my weight lifting routine over to bodyweight workouts — and I’ve never looked back. In this short article, I’ll discuss a few of the reasons why I made the switch, and why I highly recommend you consider doing it as well.

Bodyweight exercises are nothing new, and they’ve long been used by the military to train. So what’s the big deal?

One of the first reasons why I switched over from a gym membership to doing bodyweight exercises from home was cost. I was able to dump my expensive monthly fitness club membership and save all that money each month by doing my workouts from home. In this economy, this was a big deal to me.

Another reason why I decided to begin doing a bodyweight workout at home was convenience. There’s nothing better than waking up and knocking out an ultra-intense, muscle building workout first thing in the morning — without ever having to leave the house. Talk about convenience!

A third reason for dumping my gym membership is continuity of workouts. I travel quite a bit for work, and I find myself constantly taking breaks from training because I don’t have access to a real weight room. Doing simple, yet effective bodyweight workouts that allow me to get super fit without weights means I can continue my exercise schedule even while I’m on the road traveling.

Hopefully this brief article has given you some good reasons to consider bodyweight training. If you’re currently working out with weights or are just looking to get ultra-fit, I strongly encourage you to consider this approach to training.
