Quitting Smoking – Win The Good Fight

When it comes to my quit smoking clients I ask them to fight for their health and to become true warriors of change.

The reason for this is simple. If you try a passive process and expect some outside force to fix your smoking habit then you have a poor chance of success. This includes patches, gums, pharmaceutical drugs and even hypnosis where you expect the therapist to fix you.

To decide to quit smoking in a passive way is harder work than not quitting at all; at least you won’t experience any disappointment.

Your subconscious mind has some very specific connections to your smoking habit, if you are passive then there will be no message to your subconscious that you are serious or that this is an important issue, and your decision to quit will literally be filed in the bin.

I’m sure you know that any change in life that is worthwhile or important is worth fighting for. Fortunately in this day and age it rarely involves you having to physically fight. However the emotional battle can be considerable and take its toll without the right support.

Hypnosis does make quitting smoking and most forms of change much easier, however it still requires your commitment and for you to be a change warrior.

My definition of a change warrior is a person who has made the firm decision to quit smoking. They have realised that they have to change and they need to change now. They take the required action and do any post hypnosis actions which have been given to them.

A clear example of not being a change warrior, or better put a poorly committed person who relies on hope, is to keep some cigarettes aside just in case. In this case you are doomed to fail.

The good news is that you don’t have to be a one person warrior. There are many people on your journey who will support your actions, your hypnotist, doctor, and caring friends and family. Tell that what you are doing and ask for support.

But be aware of those stealthy anti-change warriors, they will plot against you. It could be as simple as they don’t want you to be disappointed, or they are afraid you won’t have as much in common if you can’t share a cigarette, or at worst they just want to see you fail.

I’m sure you know who I’m talking about! So you may need some extra armor around these people.
